KipRich, Kizzy Don mourn loss of baby Miracle
Popular dancehall couple KipRich and Kizzy Don are mourning the passing of their two-week-old daughter, Miracle. The baby was born prematurely on January 16 while the couple was on a work trip in Colombia, South America. Miracle weighed just 1.5 pounds (700 grammes). Kizzy's original due date was in April.
"We don't have a good news inna di morning yah. The baby passed at 7 this morning and it a mess we up bad," Kip Rich told THE STAR.
Shortly after Miracle's birth, the couple launched a GoFundMe to help cover the mounting expenses in the intensive care unit at a hospital in San Andres, Colombia. Their goal was US$250,000 (approximately J$39.1 million).
"The cost varies per day as yesterday (Monday) the bill was 13 million Colombian pesos (approximately US$3,500 or J$548,000) and today (Tuesday) is another bill because they did a transfusion on her. They have to be giving her treatments to help with her lungs and so on. The thing is that we have to be making preparations to move her from this facility because they don't have all the resources needed to keep her, so we have to move to another island and that airfare is US$15,000 (approximately J$2.34 million)," KipRich told THE STAR last week.
KipRich, whose real name is Marlon Plunkett, had travelled to Colombia to perform at a show in San Andres on Saturday, January 17. Kizzy Don, real name Danielle Banton, 28, a social media star and rising entertainer, accompanied him. He said Kizzy had received clearance from her doctor to travel before leaving the US.
