Morgan Heritage, Chronixx tie in Grammy poll

The battle for Best Reggae Album at the 2018 Grammy Awards is between Morgan Heritage's 'Avrakedabra' and Chronixx's 'Chronology', according to an online poll on the Grammy Awards' website. Yesterday afternoon, the albums led the pack of five nominees, each having received 29 per cent of the votes. Damian 'Jr Gong' Marley's 'Stony Hill' is next with 20 per cent of the votes, while Common King's 'Lost in Paradise' has 13 per cent, and J Boog's 'Wash House Ting' has eight per cent.

The previous results posted had Morgan Heritage leading the pack of nominees with 30 per cent of the votes, with Chronixx just behind with 29 per cent. Only the results are available on the website, with no indication of how the voting is going.

The website said with the race including "two first-time nominees, two well-established and previously nominated acts, and one multi-Grammy winning descendant of reggae royalty, the competition will turn out to be an intriguing race".

It sings the praises of all the nominees, pointing out that Chronixx built a name for himself as one of the rising stars of the reggae revival movement, It described Morgan Heritage who copped the Reggae Grammy two years ago as a group whose "output has been extremely prolific throughout their career".

The same article also said that while this is the first solo album three-time winner Damian Marley has released in 12 years, the youngest son of the late reggae legend Bob Marley has remained active on the music scene and stands a very good chance of walking away the 2018 winner.
