For DJ Slowmotion, embracing artificial intelligence (AI) has not replaced artistry--it has expanded it.

A native of St Catherine, Jamaica, DJ Slowmotion, who is now based in the United States, formally launched his journey as an AI artiste in 2024. Since then, he has released more than 50 AI-powered tracks across an impressive range of genres, including reggae, dancehall, pop, and rock & roll.

Armed with years of experience in music production and industry operations, he made a deliberate shift toward producing and releasing his own music as an AI artiste.

"AI gives you what you give it, the processes involved in creating an AI track is more complex that it seems," he said.

By leveraging AI technology, DJ Slowmotion found a fresh creative lane--one that allows him to fuse traditional DJ sensibilities with advanced digital tools, crafting sounds tailored for diverse markets.

"All my songs are written by me, inserted into the AI system and by manipulating the tools available, I was able to make myself sound how I want, while being able to create collaborations with females using said softwares that allow the words I write to be outputted in a female's voice," DJ Slowmotion said.

Several of his tracks, including Rise, One Queen and That Version Of Us, have secured placements on multiple international playlists, while For Better Days continues its climb toward the 100,000-stream milestone. His 2025 EP, Love Riddim & Groove, has also found strong traction on platforms such as Pandora and Apple Music.

Driven by a desire to reshape how music is both created and consumed, DJ Slowmotion said he is committed to embracing digital innovation as a tool--not a shortcut--in artistic expression. He said other persons should consider using AI tools.

"For those who can write but aren't able to deliver, AI allows a space where we can choose how to present our art with confidence," DJ Slowmotion said.
