Strategy worked - After Akaline buzz Fabian Vendetta settles into industry
He came to popularity early last year when a diss track he recorded, 'Prison Warder', began making the rounds on social media. The song contained lyrical jabs at artistes such as Spice, Vybz Kartel, and Popcaan.
Many persons were led to believe that Alkaline was the man responsible for the track. At the time, the song created quite a buzz, as musical fans were hoping it would be the beginning of the lyrical confrontation they had been asking for. That, however, was not forthcoming, as it was soon found out that Prison Warder was the work of Alkaline sound-a-like Fabian Vendetta.
Fast-forward a year and the deejay is still riding the high from what he dubbed a "clever marketing strategy". In a recent interview with THE WEEKEND STAR, the deejay said that he has no regrets about how he chose to gain prominence, as the tactic worked.
"The strategy did work, that's for sure. People know exactly who I am now and they know what and who I represent. I'm now recognised by the world," he said.
Fabian Vendetta claims that he has been approached by countless music influencers who are seeking to work with him.
"The move has been a gain for me in many ways. Not only am I out there now, but I have been voicing for most, if not all, the major producers. I am now working on an EP for Big League Music, and I have released three songs since the start of the year that have been doing well," he said.
Fabian Vendetta told THE WEEKEND STAR that while he got his break through controversy, he is more focused on putting out positive music.
"I'm focusing on conscious music due to the massive outbreak of crime and
violence in Jamaica," he said, also revealing that becoming a husband and father also helped to shape his perspective.
"I got married and had a son in the past year, so I have to focus on them and what I bring to the table as a role model."
