‘Team Strike Force should have won’ - ZJ Sparks disappointed with Culture Clash results
ZJ Sparks believes that one of the rules stipulated for last Saturday's Red Bull Culture Clash at the National Arena was disregarded in the selection of the winner - Team Do It For The Culture.
Sparks, one of the cast members for Team Strike Force, led by Govana and Jada Kingdom, said that one of the rules was that core crews must consist of disc jockey, artiste(s), hype man or woman, and must include females, not only as dancers.
She believes that if the rules were put into full effect by the facilitators of the clash, then the results would have been different.
"If you talking about the rules of playback, you will realise that the sound declared winner played back a song, the Busta Rhymes dub, from the fourth round in the tiebreaker segment," Sparks told THE STAR. "Secondly, while that same team had females who were dancers, referring to the contract outlines, they did not meet the requirements."
Team Strike Force was also called out for replaying a track which, she defends, was not completely accurate.
"They selectively chose what it is they wished to enforce, because the song they claimed was played in the first round, Bogus Badge by Louie Culture, was not even played in the first round," she said,
The disc jockey used the reaction of the patrons at the end of the night as evidence that her team was the top pick.
She said, "When you have a winner of a sound clash and find most people walk out at its very announcement, it is indicative that they are displeased. The people say that we won, because when someone wins, say for example, a race, they stay and celebrate."
Despite the dissatisfaction, Sparks is taking pleasure in the support Team Strike Force received and is still receiving on social media from persons who declared them the true winners.
"Overall, I am happy as it was a win for Jamaica, with this being the home of clash culture and the fact that a big global brand decided to bring the platform here," she said.
