Gospel Spotlight: Cairo Young embarks on church tour
Gospel singer Cario Young, armed with his latest single, ‘ Increase My Faith’, has decided to use a church tour as the promotional vehicle for the song.
Although he says that he is not aware of this being a staple on the church circuit, he believes that his format is workable.
“I plan to go to different churches and do performances, hoping to get more traction,” he said, adding that the song is receiving favourable airplay on local gospel stations. “The plan is to do 25-minute segments in the churches, where I will also interact with the people on their level.”
Escarpment Road and May Pen New Testament are already down with his programme, which is set to kick off in January and last for eight weeks.
Young told Gospel Spotlight that the song was released on November 9 via Zojak World Wide and is available on all streaming platforms.
SONG’S ORIGINS
He related the story behind the song, which he calls inspirational.
“ Increase My Faith was written a couple of months ago, at a point when I was doubting God’s place in my life. During that period, I was questioning everything, and then I came to the realisation that God doesn’t change, so it had to be me,” he said.
Young, who grew up in Hector’s River in Portland, immersed in strong Christian principles, says that going to church was like his second skin.
He recalled waking up one morning with the entire chorus of the song in his head.
“It was divine. And this song has helped so many people. I get the emails and the text messages regularly,” he said.
Young, a graduate in human resource management from the University of the West Indies, is currently pursuing a master’s degree.
He has been singing professionally since 2008, but it wasn’t until 2013 that he started taking his craft more seriously.
PRODUCER CREDITS
He has released projects with local producers, including Jay Crazie Records, Channel 17 Records, Echo One Productions and Notnice Records.
Young has also partnered with US-based record label Upsetta Records to release several projects.
His debut, a seven-song EP, will be launched at the end of January 2020.
