Coachella has called and Koffee has responded positively. The Grammy-nominated reggae act is set to make her splash debut at the 2020 staging of arguably the biggest musical celebration in the world: the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The massive event, which takes place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, across two weekends - April 10-12 and 17-19 - announced their line-up on January 2, advising that Weekend One was already sold out, following the advance sale. Koffee will perform on the Saturday night on both weekends.

Last year, multiplatinum-selling, double Grammy-winning DJ/producer Wayne 'Native Wayne' Jobson hinted at the possibility of Koffe being on the line-up for the music festival, which annually showcases the biggest artistes across all popular genres. A member of the Reggae Grammy committee and the host of the rock-reggae syndicated radio show Alter Native, Jobson is dedicated to pushing reggae and has used his influence in all areas.

Major label deal

"Paul Tollet, the promoter of Coachella, is a friend of mine, so every year, I strongly suggest to him to have some reggae. So, recently, he had Chronixx, Protoje, and Toots and the Maytals. I think he picked Koffee because she's the most happening artiste right now and because she has a major label deal with Sony, so she has all that juice behind her," he told The STAR.

Jobson says he didn't recommend Koffee to the promoters but that there was a good reason for it.

"I would have recommended her, but they had already suggested her to Paul. I will be attending, and I know that Koffee will destroy the place," he said confidently.

Following the incredible success of her single, Toast, the 19-year-old reggae sensation released her debut EP, Rapture, last year. The set, which includes five tracks - Toast, Throne, Raggamuffin, Blazin, and the title track - debuted at number one on Billboard's Reggae Album Chart and also on iTunes Reggae Chart. It went on to grab a Reggae Grammy nomination.

"Koffee is a great artiste. She has that fire in her eyes that makes you know that she is special. Not many artistes have that fire in their eyes," Jobson said of the teenager who is set to open for One Direction alum Harry Styles in Mexico come September.

Over its 20 years in existence, Coachella, which has become the playground for the celebrity crowd, has hosted some of the most historic sets in festival history, with big-name acts such as Beyonce, Daft Punk, Prince, Radiohead, and Bob Dylan playing the main stage.

Rage Against the Machine, Travis Scott, and Frank Ocean will headline the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2020.

Last year's Coachella was headlined by Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, and Tame Impala. Kanye West performed his Sunday Service atop a hill on the morning of Easter Sunday.
