Pay attention to your children, Gramps Morgan urges artistes

Having been forced to cancel a six-week US tour due to a family medical emergency, Gramps Morgan, of reggae group Morgan Heritage, is urging fellow entertainers to prioritise their responsibilities.

"I am imploring my fellow artistes to pay attention to their children. And this is especially to we reggae artistes, cause we mek nuff babies," he told THE WEEKEND STAR.

The entertainer, who has been busy completing a string of tours with his brothers, shared that the medical situation is ongoing, "but we are taking it one day at a time".

"The greatest thing is that I'm not in some bar playing music and gyrating when the attention is needed here at home," he said.

Gramps paid tribute to his father, Denroy Morgan, who was instrumental in the formation and nurturing of the sibling group, who has enjoyed tremendous success internationally.

Denroy, who carved out a memorable career for himself, put it on pause to devote his time to making his children a force in the music business.

"My father realised that one thing that you can never get back with your children is time. As parents, our children get neglected, so he did what he had to do to ensure that we all got to spend quality time with him. And I really lift my hat to him for that. When things happen, you just have to step back," the Grammy award-winning artiste said.

Speaking of his sister, Una, who has not been on tour with Morgan Heritage in recent times, he told THE WEEKEND STAR that she is focused on getting her health back.

"Una had a heart attack in 2015 and she has come a long way. Now that the kids are all grown, it is a beautiful thing to see her in studio working with producers getting her album ready," he said.
