Dancer Michelle White has been living in Jamaica for eight years now, and six of those have been spent dancing her way across many stages throughout the island, improving her craft.

She is now taking bookings, rather than going out there seven days a week on the hustle. White has a name that is quite interesting – she’s called Isis.

“It has nothing to do with any terrorist activity,” she says hastily with a laugh.

“When I first started dancing, they used to call me Bahamas. Then I was at a dance one night and another dancer said she wanted to clash me, and after it finished the selector was like, ‘No my girl, ah you a Isis, you suicidal’,” she told THE WEEKEND STAR.

Isis explained that she is now a hardcore dancer, who literally takes dancing to the next level. She jumps into trees, or off rooftops, performing gravity-defying feats on stage and upping her game with each appearance.

The dancer says that she takes her career seriously and maintains a high level of caution while doing her stunts.

“Whenever I go to a venue, the first thing that I do is check out my surroundings. I look where is safe for me to dance. I will see if the place is slippery or if a tree is soft I will not go up in it,” she explained. “If the stage too small, then there are certain moves that I don’t even try to do. I just do my normal dancing and not go hardcore.”

Isis is urging all her fellow entertainers to be vigilant of COVID-19 and admitted that her bottom line has been affected as shows and workshops have either been cancelled or postponed, including a proposed seven-day workshop in Negril.

“It was the first time that I would be doing this particular workshop and I was really looking forward to it. But we just have to say life over money and know that more will come,” she said.
