Rastafarian reggae singer Jesse Royal is preaching a message crafted in a four-letter word - love. His latest song, ' Sweet Sensation', is alight with passion. Jesse says this is a necessary song in these times, especially when people are instructed to stay in for very wise reasons.

"We need to understand the important role that love has to play in the revolution. The musical message can't be just burn, burn, burn all the time. There has to be a balance. Bob Marley says music a go teach them a lesson," the Lion Order crooner shared with THE WEEKEND STAR.

Sweet Sensation was released on February 14, recognised as Valentine's Day, and that was not by chance.

"The universe happened," is how Jesse chose to explain it. He added, "Love is an eternal thing. A king is not anything without his queen."

He has big hopes that the love theme will connect solidly with listeners, as will the accompanying music video.

DOWNTIME

Currently making the most of his downtime caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Jesse remains upbeat.

"I've had shows in the US West Coast postponed. But we have to understand that it is not always about us. Sometimes, we are forced to slow down and see ourselves in a different light," he said.

Noting that he is a person who is always looking for the positives, he said, "This is a pause in order to recalibrate and spend time with loved ones. Life is about adapting. Right now, the music is being presented in a different fashion and we have to see how best we can fit in."

Recently, he, along with Jamila Falak and Dre Island, was part of the Digicel Online Cameo Concert.

Jesse also recently released the single Natty Pablo, and is currently working on his sophomore album, which he hopes to drop this year.
