Entertainers to face court on Friday
Entertainers Elephant Man and Bad Boy Trevor, are both scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Friday to answer to COVID-related charges.
Elephant Man, given name Oneal Bryan, was arrested and charged with breaches of the Immigration Act when he arrived in the island in early March.
The police reported that Elephant Man arrived at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, along with members of his team, and was asked to declare all the countries he visited.
Elephant Man, who was reportedly on tour in Europe, including COVID-hit Germany, reportedly did not adhere to the immigration requirement.
Before the island's ports were closed later in the month, the Jamaican Government had placed a travel ban on Germany and other countries due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Elephant Man, who was subsequently placed in quarantine, is being represented by attorney-at-law Christopher Townsend.
Meanwhile, actor Garfield 'Bad Boy Trevor' Reid was arrested on Sunday, March 23, after a police team visited a premises on Plantation Drive in Kingston 20, at approximately 1 a.m., where a party was being held.
Reid had advertised the party on his Instagram page, and the well-attended event contravened the Government restriction for the number of persons allowed at public gatherings.
The measure was put in place as the country attempted to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease.
The cops shut down the party and also seized a console and a quantity of liquor. The 50-year-old roots play star was charged under the Disaster Risk Management Act, Noise Abatement Act, Emergency Powers Act, and the Spirit Licence Act.
He is being represented by Peter Champagnie QC.
