In the late '80s, the 'Wild Apache', Super Cat, scored big with the Steelie and Clevie-produced single, 'Sweet for My Sweet' on a riddim of the same name. The riddim has now been re-energised with a slew of songs produced by legendary selector the Original Richie Poo on his eponymous label. Richie Poo, who made his name on the duo's Silver Hawk sound system, released the set over two weeks ago, and he has strategically used the same name, Sweet for My Sweet.

A seven-track, various-artiste compilation, it features Christopher Martin, Busy Signal, Kim Nain, Nigma and Mr G, George P, Kevyn Voicemail and Geoffrey Star all riding the riddim with song titles which make a statement: Nice up the Party, Never Too Old to Learn, The One for Me, Money Innocent, and others. Richie Poo says he has been receiving good reviews about the VPAL-distributed compilation, and singled out up-and-coming act Kim Nain for special mention.

"The Kim Nain song ( The One For Me) a gwaan wicked. Everybody loves it," he told THE STAR. "Steelie and Clevie did this riddim for me from 1998, when I started producing. But I got discouraged and stopped. Now is just the right time," Richie Poo added.

The selector, who is based in the United States, has found himself with more time on his hands than usual, owing to the extended pause in the entertainment business triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, but he is grateful for his slots on Future FM, which serves Bronx communities, and also on Fetedayz iRadio, a new entity set up by Lenworth 'DJ Squeeze' Samuels and which has over 200,000 listeners.
