When hip-hop artiste 2K Ponce Juno contemplated doing a remix of his Go Pretty Girl single, one artiste who immediately came to mind was Beenie Man.

So, the Antigua-born artiste, who was raised in Park Hill Staten Island, USA, made the link, and the remix was born.

A thrilled 2K Ponce Juno told THE STAR that he really appreciated how the 'dancehall doctor' skilfully applied his surgical tools to the single and came out with what he called "a masterpiece hook," which is one of the ingredients Beenie Man is known for.

"I wrote this song a while ago, but I needed somebody else on there to really spice it up. I figured since I'm speaking about girls, the best person would be 'The Doctor'. I sent the track out to him and his team. He liked it. He changed the whole hook. It was totally different," said the rapper, who is proud of his links with rap group Wu-Tang.

Expecting great things

He is expecting great things from the collaboration which also features up-and-coming artiste, Double K, who just happened to be around when the remix was being done.

"She told me she's getting on the track. I heard what she had to say and it fit, so here it is," 2K Ponce Juno said of the song which has a distinct Caribbean-New York flair.

Go Pretty Girl Remix recently premiered on various radio stations, and the artiste and his team love the positive feedback.

2K Ponce Juno is a Sony Music Group/The Orchard and High Performance Records artiste.

In 2012, he launched his first project Chicken Grease n' Grits and later released his first video entitled, They Like This.

Last year March, he released his EP project Coolli Bandz, which spawned the single This Life, which propelled him to be placed on The Takeover Tour, powered by the AAMG family.

He told THE STAR, "I have always loved music. My father plays eight instruments and did so before I was even born, so I guess music is in my blood."

Go Pretty Girl Remix is set to be released officially next January.
