Starlord hopes to rise with ‘Falling’
Up-and-coming recording artiste Starlord is hoping to shine bright with his soon-to-be-released debut EP, titled Falling.
The Stony Hill, St Andrew, artiste says he is confident that the songs will resonate well with listeners and give him his breakthrough in the music industry.
"It gives an insight of my journey throughout life so far. My trials and triumphs. Everyone has a story but all of us can't just relate them by talking. So I explain and express mine through song. I spend quite some time making this EP and all of the tracks were written and produced by me," he said.
In addition to the title track, the EP, which is scheduled to be released this month, features other tracks such as Pain, Wish and Rai ny Days. He lists Pain as the one closest to his heart, as it speaks about losing friends to violence or natural causes.
"Nowadays, it's like a week won't pass and you don't hear about someone you know dying. When mi fren dem dead, mi never know how to deal with it suh mi just put in a song," he said.
When asked what sets him two steps ahead of other up-and-coming artistes, he says it is his dedication and his writing skills.
"I do a regular nine-to-five job, but I still find the time to dedicate myself to honing my skills. I learn a lot about music online and I do most, if not all, of my projects myself. I write songs that are real and that can be listened to by all audience," he said.
In addition to the EP, Starlord says he is hoping to debut his clothing line, Majesty Cross, in January.
"Some people may think I am taking on a lot because mi nuh buss musically yet, but all of this is just to keep focused. Music and fashion walk hand-in-hand and just like how the rap artiste dem do it and make it, a di same way we have to reach for the sky. Imagine if I can make it on Billboard and a clothe the artiste dem too?" he said.
