Marion Hall ‘testing the waters’ for dancehall return, says Macka Diamond
Macka Diamond, an arch-rival of Lady Saw when both women competed in the dancehall space years ago before the latter became a Christian, has extended an invitation to her to return to her former stomping ground.
Lady Saw, who goes by the name Minister Marion Hall, ignited a firestorm in entertainment circles last week following a sermon in which she made uncomplimentary remarks about female artistes Shenseea, Spice and Jada Kingdom.
Macka Diamond, responding to Hall's sermon, said that it appears that she is "testing the waters" for a possible return to dancehall.
"Lady Saw's recent actions are scary. I am genuinely worried about her and I hope she finds peace and looks within herself. I am not sure what is going on in her head but what I can say [that] is since she baptize, she don't want to let go off the hype and for her name to die out jus' suh," Macka Diamond said.
"She is always trying to find a new way to be in the spotlight on social media. It is the new norm. If she want to come back she can, because dancehall will accept her," the Cow Foot singer told THE STAR.
Marion Hall, who was widely known for her raunchy stage appearances as Lady Saw, got baptised in 2015.
"I am praying that God will speak to these women as he did to me years ago," said the minister, adding that "I am trying to lead you into righteousness because what you are doing, you have a one-way ticket to hell if you don't turn".
But the manner in which the woman of the cloth went about addressing the female entertainers has not gone over well with many persons. Macka Diamond opined that the minister's preaching was a personal attack on the women. She said that as Lady Saw, Hall had a long history of fighting down and throwing barbs at other females in the business.
However, in a subsequent sermon on the weekend, Hall appears to have doubled down on her comments about the entertainers. She said that the gospel is not for weak people or cry babies.
"God is raising up warriors who speak it as it is," she said.
The minister also made a post on social media in which she invited the devil and "all of you that work for him" to "come kiss out me Bible, so you can get deliverance before it's too late".
"God was merciful enough to wash me with his cleansing blood, and upgrade me to the upper room. I am not going downstairs so the devil can laugh all the way to hell," she wrote.
