Dancehall dancer-turned-recording artiste Crazyhype wants to dispel rumours that he was injured in a skydiving accident earlier this month.

"To all my fans and concerned citizens, I want to say that I am good. I'm healthy and stronger than I have ever been. The images circulating of me with the ambulance was just a scene from my music video. But, again, I'm extremely grateful for the outpouring of love and support," he told THE STAR.

Crazyhype continued, "I wanted to be different and bring something new to the screens that no Jamaican had ever done, especially for a music video. So, when my manager suggested skydiving, I jumped at the opportunity."

He expressed that, while waiting to jump from the plane, he was almost crippled by fear. But, once he exited the plane, it was "straight soaring".

"All fears were dead. I felt as free as a bird. I will surely do it again. It was one of the best feelings I've ever had," he said. "To be honest, I wouldn't really tell anyone to try skydiving but, if you want to get over some fears in life and strengthen your heart, it's not a bad idea."

As the founder of popular dance group MOB, Crazyhype has garnered a large following. Known widely for dance, he has been spotlighting the Jamaican dancehall culture in Europe as he explores his other passions, which are songwriting and recording.

Based in Berlin during the pandemic, the entertainer has been part of the line-up for several club shows, including Dancehall Madness in Denmark and Berlin Carnival. Despite the challenges, he has managed to promote himself as an artiste. He has also opened shows for Aidonia, Elephant Man and Govana.

He said, "The experience over the past two years has been humbling but also productive, because I've taken the time to create, and from this I have finished my album and started my own event company, Welcome to Jamaica Events."

His most popular singles include MVP, Brace, featuring Oceana, and PiCatchU, which caught the attention of Universal Records France. Now, Crazyhype is gearing up to release his 11-track album as the official introduction to the world as a recording artiste. He noted that skydiving partially symbolised him letting go of the fears holding him back, and full footage of the feat can be seen in the official music video for the single Break The Lawz. The video was directed by Ohxigenes Studios, based in Belgium.

"I do believe I've become more adventurous and that fears kill dreams. It's good to spread your wings and widen your fan base but my focus remains on Jamaica. There's nowhere like Jamaica ... I can't wait to hit the stages back home and show the people what I have to offer to the dancehall genre," Crazyhype said.
