Dancehall entertainer Laa Lee is enjoying a lot more attention these days from an international audience.

Three days ago, his single Bong Bing was named an 'Instagram Anthem' on the official page for the creators of the platform. He was also endorsed by American actress Raven Symone, who he referred to as a "childhood idol".

"I don't even know how to feel but happy," Laa Lee told THE WEEKEND STAR. "It is the first dancehall track to become an IG anthem to my knowledge."

Among the list of songs highlighted were Child of God by Chance The Rapper, No Love, a collaboration with Summer Walker, SZA and Cardi B, Big Energy Remix by Latto, Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled, and Envolver by Brazilian singer Anitta.

"I do," Laa Lee said about feeling validated and says he is using the highlight as motivation to keep producing the standard of music he has been delivering in recent times.

"It's happy music; it's making me happy and the people who listen to my music happy and making them move. That's what matters," he said.

MAINTAINING STANDARD

In 2019, Laa Lee became Instagram-verified and has been committed to maintaining a standard that keeps his international audience entertained. The Tip Inna It deejay expressed that he is aware that there are many critics and persons locally who do not have an appreciation for his music but that he is not discouraged.

"I been the most underrated and still I manage to surprise everybody. Dancehall is represented by fun, at least that's what it should be known for. Sometimes it can be violent or aggressive but mostly fun," he said. "Nowadays it gone to trap, who ah pay fi dis song and that song. It has gotten boring in some aspects and to the point of seeing females bussin' blank instead of a dance."

Laa Lee has expressed that he wants the music he produces to be a change for the culture. The deejay is thankful to fans and followers but also offered that his music was making waves because of the teamwork behind the scenes.

"The team has definitely been making it happen," Laa Lee shared.
