"I want to have my presence felt." Those were the words of globally acclaimed dancehall artiste and producer Sean Paul, as he shared the reasons for not wasting any time to return home from Las Vegas.

Sean Paul hilariously revealed to THE STAR that his return had nothing to do with feeling "a little way" about SOJA winning the reggae Grammy. But "definitely because I needed to be here for Levi's [his son's] sports day".

"The Grammys was in the night and I left basically 4 a.m. ... and sports day was the next day. Certain things are important in a child's life and, even right now, I'm scheduling a lot of things around what my children are doing, what's on their timetable. A schedule is important to them, [so] from meetings to studio and rehearsal times, I schedule a lot around them," the artiste said.

Sean Paul has been very vocal about having to deal with emotions as a child that were as a result of having a drug addict father. He has shared that not only did drugs play a role in his father's absence, he also did time in jail. The Dynamite artiste, 49, opened up about it, noting also that his career causes him to spend a lot of time away from his family.

"I know what it feels like to have that void of not having a parent around and I fortunately made it through because I had one parent that really cared and put in a lot of dedication and time," he said. "I figured, maybe if I had two parents doing that, the influence would have been greater and I would have more discipline in areas that I do not."

Last month, Sean Paul announced the dates for his 2022 US Scorcha tour, returning to the stage after a two-year hiatus from the tour scene. He is expected to start an intense tour schedule in two weeks when he heads to Massachusetts to perform at the House of Blues in Boston on April 22. Connecticut, New York, Nevada, and California dates follow.

He said, if anything should be a main goal in his life, it is to make certain both his children know what it feels to have fatherly love and to be an icon and role model to them first.

"When I have to be away, I have to be away. But when I am here, I definitely want them to feel that. To influence children in a positive way, that's my effort," Sean Paul shared
