Daddy1 talks fatherhood - Artiste wants to build a legacy for child through music

Hardcore dancehall entertainer Daddy1 is owning fatherhood, and recently poured out his emotions to THE WEEKEND STAR about his one-year-old son.

"Everything good man," the Custom deejay said when asked how has he been managing his new role. "Me a real daddy now, Amir a me first [so] me a learn a lot same way. Yuh know how it go, the older we get, we learn."

Daddy1 has been keeping the little one out of the spotlight since he welcomed him last December. The deejay, whose given name is Adrien Daley, shares the same birth month with his son. He said not having his own father play an active role in his upbringing has impacted the decisions he has made to be a present force in his son's life.

"Last year December, him born on the 23rd and my birthday was the 21st," he said with a laugh. "Me wouldn't say me plan it. Now is the time to plan. Get a youth now, so me a give more energy to push the music career further and build a legacy for him."

At age 20, Daddy1 became dancehall's newest breakout star. He became popular for coining the slang 'Brogad' which was embraced by Prime Minister Andrew Holness, who changed his Twitter handle to 'The Most Honourable Brogad' in November 2019.

Daddy1, in expressing happiness and peace of mind, described 2022 as a "fully active" year which "a treat me good".

"Right now, we a get ready fi Sting, we about to release a album fi the new year. Mi feel good fi deh pon Sting, me well prepared, me ready," said an enthusiastic Daddy1. "Me never been to Sting before, so this will be my first-ever experience and only a look fi it be positive. Sting is all about hardcore dancehall and that is the dancehall we love from we a likkle youth a grow up. Personally, me nah look to clash nuhbody but we fully active. The year fully active. Anybody who come, dem a enjoy me performance."

Daddy1 anticipates the album will have 15 unheard tracks which were recorded over a two-year period. It will be released as early as January 1 or the latest February.
