St Thomas-based sound system, Five Star General, has secured their spot in the May 20 finals of the Magnum All-Star Sound Clash, following an exciting win over Unruly Stumpy last weekend.

The fiery clash saw busloads of supporters turning up at 153 Olympic Way in St Andrew to cheer on their sound.

The high-flying eastern Jamaica sound did not have things their own way as they had ride out a few wicked rounds from a sizzling Unruly Stumpy.

The first of the four rounds, which was dubbed the 'juggling segment', left fans and the judges feeling bored and disappointed. Five Star General made the adjustments and easily won round two. However, Unruly Stumpy came back with a punch, dominating rounds three and four.

However, Unruly Stumpy, which ironically brought out a coffin declaring the 'clash death' of Five Star General, made two grave mistakes that cost them the encounter. The first unforced error occurred when the MC introduced a Beres Hammond song, only for the DJ to play a Barrington Levy track. And in the bonus round, Unruly Stumpy played a dub that was played in round two, which cost them the clash.

"Right now it's just a joy, joy, joy, come straight back down to St Thomas. One of the times me a seh this look sticky and how we a guh pull through this now. We just seh a word a prayer and God answer we prayer, and we pull through. It was a great clash, but it was very close," said Five Star General's front man.

With sight fixed on the $1 million cash prize, trophy and bragging rights, the Fire Star said it intends bring its A-game on May 20.

"In the finals you will get the real deal. We a guh fix all errors in the finals," Five Star General said.

Semi-final two will see Rispec Jam and Echo 1 sound facing off in their clash, to be held this Friday at the same venue.
