Jamaican music and culture were on full display at the recently held Afro Reggae Fest which took place in The Gambia, West Africa.

Dancehall artistes NYNE X, formerly known as Concrossiss, and Lynx Unruly are still reeling from the experience, which they described as life-changing. It was NYNE X's second time in an African country; he previously performed in Sierra Leone in 2018.

"It was a great experience. I felt like I was where I belong," NYNE X disclosed.

Said Lynx Unruly, "The experience was one-of-a-kind, very unforgettable. The vibe, the love and the energy were on point." He related what he thought was the highlight of his performance.

"The moment that I threw my shoe in the crowd, that's a moment that I will never forget," said Lynx Unruly.

The artiste, who performed songs from his catalogue, including Dat Bad and Red Eye, used the time in The Gambia to capitalise on promotional and networking opportunities.

"I was in The Gambia for a week and the networking was very good. I made some connections with some great people in the music world, including musicians, artistes and producers," he shared.

NYNE X also used his time in the country to record a collaboration with a local artiste and to also complete a music video shoot.

"I also made some connections with sound systems and selectors DJ Spytal, Gramranks International Sound and Article Slice. They are the ones who promote our music in The Gambia," said NYNE X.

He said that when he was contacted to perform, it was an opportunity that he couldn't pass up.

'I was excited but at the same time a little nervous, because I didn't know that the people would know my songs," said NYNE X.

During his performance, he reeled out songs like Dream, Mama Cry and Progress.

"The energy was great, and the people were interactive. I also want to pay respect to those who have set the foundation for artistes like myself [such as] Bob Marley, Sizzla, Anthony B, Popcaan, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer," NYNE X reasoned.
