Dancehall artiste Jahshii has asserted his innocence in a new song, Fire Alarm, which was released on Wednesday.

The song appears to address recent rumours relating to a police investigation into the murder of a man called 'Romie' in the Grants Pen community of St Andrew. Fire Alarm was released with emotional visuals that show the effect the rumour-mongering had on the artiste's family. Jahshii's mother, Lorna Henry, makes an appearance in the introduction of the video to drive home the point.

"Why dem want hold down mi pickney? As mi seh already, and mi ah guh seh it again, oonu go find Proverbs 12 and read [verses] 22 to 28," Henry advised.

The Bible passage urges people to keep the utmost distance from lying, because lying lips are an abomination to the Lord.

Jahshii, who has asserted his innocence in the 'Romie' saga, makes it clear in Fire Alarm that he will not be taking chances will his life.

He deejays:

"Mi deh pan dah stage yah wid a weapon near mi weh nuh deh pan safety

Ah di whole place mi wi tek and shake it

Cah tek mi three points nuh Lebron James this

Dem affi go witness bless and greatness..."

The 25/8 artiste is even more defiant on the chorus, stating emphatically:

"A rather them than me cah kill mi suh easy

One up inna the mattic, mi nah itch fi squeeze eh

ah rather them than me...ah rather them than me."

In a section of the song, Jahshii urges the media -- traditional and social -- to "get your facts right and nuh bring your news wrong".

Jahshii was questioned by the cops as part of their investigations last month after he was accompanied to the Constant Spring Police Station by his attorneys, Peter Champagnie and Richard Lynch. He was never arrested or charged.

The police have yet to make an arrest in relation to Romie's murder.
