Joy is an understatement, Flippa Mafia, aka Flippa Mogglea, told THE WEEKEND STAR of him being free after nine years in prison.

The entertainer, whose given name is Andrew Davis, was released early from the East Jersey State Prison in October 2022 on parole.

While in custody, Flippa Mafia used the time to complete his high school diploma and earned a bachelor's degree in education.

"It sad that it tek mi fi go a jail fi get more mature and understand certain tings. I was going in a fast lane and Fada God did haffi slow mi down, but I am grateful most of all that mi get a second chance. Mi get a chance fi correct mi mistake dem and move forward."

He shared that upon his release, he went to his sister's restaurant and ordered oxtail.

"My mother was there ... but she didn't know that I would be coming home that day, so she was surprised. It was just bare joy ... indescribable. One of the good things is that I had a great support system. My family ... my kids ... they were always there for me. I listened to music from Beres, Sanchez, Freddie, Bob Marley and Luciano. Those songs give me strength, plus I reflected on all the good memories and that helped me through," Flippa Mafia said.

While he is not totally ruling out adding motivational speaker to his list of titles, the 'Flossing King' is at a place where he is concerned about the youth and doesn't want them to ruin their future.

"I want to educate the youths. I want to let them know that nothing lasts forever ... only good salvation. So it is important for them to sow good, positive seeds. I want to tell the youth dem to dream big and go after dem goals, but keep on the right side of the law," he advised.

He added, "I've been scarred, but the mercy of God carried me through. I am wiser ... smarter ... and me a beg God fi carry mi on the right path. I know that God has me here for a purpose."

Having spent quality time reconnecting with his children and family and still fully appreciating "simply being able to get up each morning and go outside", Flippa Mafia is back in music full time, and ready to take on a challenge, even releasing a new song which speaks to his flossing credentials.

His newest song, which was released last Friday, is titled Flosser and it was produced by Long Life Records, a name which he says is significant. It's not his first song, but he feels it is his best so far. It traces his personal history in exciting the dancehall with his extravagant lifestyle, which used to see him throwing US dollars into the crowd at stage shows and popping champagne by the box.

"The first song Busy [Signal] listen to dem and explain to me that the flow different now and so mi go back and do some more voicing. And mi catch the flow right now. Is just some lyrics mi build in response to some people who questioning my flossing crown. All mi a seh is 'Show me your work'. My credentials are there. A nuh show off mi show off, a boasy mi boasy," he said.
