When Sting unfolds at Jamworld next Tuesday, Macka Diamond will be one of two female artistes to take her place among the heavyweight '10 Giants' who are expected to dominate the stage.

The 'girl from the Diamond district' told THE WEEKEND STAR that she is chiselled and ever-ready, even as she congratulated co-founder Isaiah Laing for Sting achieving its 40th anniversary milestone.

"Kudos to Mr Laing and his Supreme Promotions team for four decades of Sting. Not many shows last that long, especially dancehall. When he called asking me to be a part of the 'Giants', I was really excited and honoured. It is another chance to prove to the world that the Diamond is not only in the rough, the Diamond knows her stuff," Mack Diamond declared.

On a high from a blazing rehearsal with veteran band Ruff Kut, Macka Diamond said she felt like Sting had already started.

'ATMOSPHERE WAS ELECTRIC'

"The rehearsals was just off the chain ... the atmosphere was ... electric. Yuh know dah summ'n deh that Sting alone have? Yeah, it deh deh. I love the look and feel of Sting this year ... it's more like a festival. It is so diverse with the artistes on the line-up, and I am sure that it will attract people of all ages and from all sectors of society. People who never yet come to Sting will be there this year," a confident Macka Diamond said.

Giving thanks for a wonderful 2023, which saw her having a summer of shows and also signing a deal with retail giant Wal-Mart as a brand ambassador, Macka Diamond said that Sting was a great way to end the year.

"The Wal-Mart ads are out online ... I posted one on my Instagram ... and the feedback is great. Right now I am just deciding on my Sting outfit. I had four choices, and I narrow it down to two. One is from a local designer and the other is [from] overseas ... but yuh know is Sting, so dem a shot. But between now and Boxing Day I will make up my mind. I just want my fans to come out and enjoy the show because I have a wonderful set for them ... and I know that all the giants and young giants are gonna do their best," she said.

The other Sting giants are Bounty Killer, Tanya Stephens, Anthony B, Spragga Benz, Turbulence, Capleton, Fantan Mojah, Bugle, and Tommy Lee Sparta.
