From his rise to stardom, dancehall hitmaker Nigy Boy has been an unstoppable force, from dropping hits to securing major deals and accolades.

Just a week ago, he was honoured by the New York State Assembly for his contribution and global impact in the music industry. In an exclusive STAR interview Nigy Boy, whose given name is Nigel Hector, expressed gratitude and great delight on the wide and vast impact his music has on various people.

"I can't even find the words to describe my jubilation. I am extremely overjoyed and thankful for such an unexpected accomplishment, but it really goes to show that our music more than has the potential of breaking barriers and resonating with people in places you would never dream. I know I am personally charged with creating music that will forever highlight the artistry and talents of New York residents," said Nigy Boy.

During the presentation of Assembly woman Alicia Hyndman of the 29th Assembly District, Nigy Boy, who was a specially invited guest, was introduced as her intern. He described the role as one in which he takes great pride and enjoys doing as Hyndman always takes every opportunity to commend and introduce him to delegates, different organisations and now, the Assembly.

"I acted as her legislative intern which involved tasks included, but not limited to, writing newsletters, drafting legislation, taking meetings with lobbyists from various organisations etc. I am humbled to have been recognised by Hyndman for my accomplishments and she provided me with a rewarding legislative experience over the course of my internship," shared the 'Continental Boss'. He added that the reactions from fans towards his honorary recognition "have been almost presidential [with] cheers and applause from fans of my work across the globe".

Following his introduction in the lower house of the New York State Legislature, during which his social media stats as well as some of his musical accomplishments and hit songs were highlighted, the talented singjay was also introduced as one of the performers for the Farm Up Jamaica Climate Smart Concert, held at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, recently.

"I felt exhilarated to have been given the opportunity to showcase my talents in an arena. It was a privilege to perform alongside some of Jamaica's greats as well as some of the soca giants," said the Nomad artiste. The event also saw performances from Alison Hinds, Jada Kingdom, Masicka, and Mr Killa.

During his internship with Hyndman, Nigy Boy has been balancing his life as an entertainer and regular nine to five worker, all while enrolling in the pursuit of a higher education in political science and history. It's a journey he's proud to undertake.

"I have goals of pursuing higher education and that will never change. If there is one thing I know, having education is a strength that can't be taken away from me," he stated.

The eloquent artiste's musical journey came to prominence in January with his global hit, Continent, which have paved the way for several other successful hits which many say "reignited dancehall".

As Nigy Boy continues to impact the world with his vibrant music, he is booked to perform at several upcoming shows across the globe such as Grenada, the UK and Jamaica's Reggae Sumfest.
