Bolt, Busy Signal, Muir deliver Team Jamaica Olympic song
Dancehall artistes Busy Signal and Shaneil Muir have partnered with Usain Bolt to create a '2024 Paris anthem' for Jamaicans to feel the intensity as the country's athletes compete in the Olympics this year.
The eight-time Olympic gold medallist and current Red Stripe ambassador shared with THE WEEKEND STAR that working on this project brought back great moments of nostalgia.
"[It] definitely did. Being at the Olympic is truly a rewarding feeling. So being able to produce the official single of the JOA [Jamaica Olympic Association] Olympic campaign powered by Red Stripe brings me great joy. I specifically remembered all the images of celebration in Half-Way Tree," shared Bolt.
The song titled, Jamaica All The Way, was released last Friday with an official music video, featuring Bolt 'holding a vibe,' rubbing shoulders, and sipping on a bottle of Red Stripe while re-watching some of his historical wins for the Jamaica Olympic team.
"I have spent my whole adult life being an athlete, so to now get to experience the Olympics from the side of fan is an exciting feeling. I'm looking forward to all the celebrating that comes from cheering on our athletes," Bolt said. He added that in composing this theme song, he, the artistes and his A-Team Lifestyle Production crew, wanted a song that "all Jamaicans could relate to and also for our athletes to feel the vibration of the support of their fans through the music".
This project was familiar ground for Busy Signal, who is known for his patriotic anthems such as his 2022 single for the 'Red Stripe Jamaica 60 Campaign,' Big Up Jamaica and his 2014 hit single, Jamaica Love. The soothing sound of Muir was the perfect blend to 'hype up' the celebration around the team as they head to Paris for the Olympics, slated for July 16 to August 11.
Red Stripe's brand manager, Nathan Nelms, said the project which was commissioned by the company, and fully endorsed by the JOA, was a "natural fit for the brand" under the 'Guh Fi Gold & Glory' campaign.
"Partnering with Usain Bolt on this, as our most recent brand ambassador who himself is a Jamaican icon, shows our strong commitment to home-grown talent. Busy Signal, who we have partnered with before on our Independence tribute, is no stranger to the brand. And adding that feminine touch with Shaneil Muir was a master stroke in producing a piece that will help to build and sustain the excitement around the athletes heading to Paris to represent Jamaica," said Nelms. " Jamaica All the Way serves as a rally cry to cheer on our athletes, celebrating Jamaican talent and reinforcing national pride before they even hit the track in Paris".
Bolt said he hopes this vibrant musical blend will show that "we as people are all about 'Jaminating' in every aspect of our lives".
"When our athletes compete at the Olympics they are carrying the pride and vibrant energy of the island. No matter if we deh yawd or aboard it's one Jamaica to the world," Bolt said.
He further encouraged all athletes to "give it their all" but most importantly to enjoy the moment. Nelms said that they were excited to hear the final song.
"The enthusiasm and pride that Jamaica All The Way has generated among Jamaicans locally and within the diaspora is quite fulfilling, and our team is happy to know that it has been well received," Nelms stated.
