'Soul Rasta' Fantan Mojah will not perform at the Reggae Therapy Festival 2024 in Martinique this weekend, as he has been admitted to a hospital in the French-speaking island and will not be discharged until next Wednesday.

A well-informed source told THE WEEKEND STAR that, under doctor's orders, the So Many Problems deejay, who has been experiencing "chest tightening and breathing problems", will also have to remain in Martinique for a while.

"There was a press conference on Wednesday and when I went to get Fantan, he said he wasn't feeling well. I took one look at him and called the doctor. The doctor attended to him and called the ambulance immediately and they took him away. The doctor said he didn't know how Fantan even managed to get here (in Martinique) in that condition. He will have to stay back for three weeks after leaving the hospital," the source shared, without going into details surrounding the exact nature of the artiste's illness. The source explained that the hospital bills will be covered, and arrangements are being made to ensure that Fantan will be comfortable while recuperating in Martinique.

Fantan Mojah, whose given name is Owen Moncrieffe, arrived in the island on Wednesday and was expected to take part in the pre-festival media blitz along with other artistes on the line-up, including Alpha Blondy, Christopher Martin, Etana and Pressure Busspipe. The second edition of Reggae Therapy Festival, on Friday and Saturday, is being advertised as an event showcasing "two days of reggae music non-stop, animation, a big exhibitor village and food stalls for all foodies". The entertainer was originally scheduled to leave Martinique on Sunday for French Guiana, where he is also booked to perform.

Fantan Mojah, who was at one point signed to Downsound Productions, released his debut album, Hail the King, in 2005. It featured popular singles such as the title track; Nuh Build Great Man, featuring Jah Cure; and Corruption. He was named the breakout artiste of 2005 and was hailed for his positive lyrics, uplifting themes, positive portrayal of women, and condemnation of ill morals.

However, he came under hellish fire in 2021 when he released the singles Fire King and Touch That Body, along with music videos awash with a string of scantily clad females cosying up to the Bobo Shanti deejay, who openly showed his appreciation and affection.

One of his newest tracks is Fantan Mojah Guh Dung, which was released on July 5
