Nigy Boy gets three nominations for IRAWMA
Award winning 'Continent Boss' Nigy Boy has been nominated in three categories - Best New Entertainer, Best Song and Best Singjay Entertainer - at the upcoming 42nd annual International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA).
The ceremony is slated for March 30 at the prestigious Coral Springs Center for the Arts, 2855 Coral Springs Drive, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
"It's a great honour to have been recognised for three nominations at this year's IRAWMA awards," an ecstatic Nigy Boy told THE STAR.
"I am extremely grateful and humbled to know that my work and accomplishments in music for the short time I've been a part of it has gained attention from such a prestigious organisation. I endeavour to keep doing the best I can," he added. Nigy Boy just celebrated his 24th birthday last week.
The news comes on the heels of the release of Nigy Boy's hot new soca song Hold On featuring Trinidadian singer-songwriter Nailah Blackman. Nigy Boy is one of the huge successes of dancehall music for his compelling music with millions of views and his engaging narrative of rising to the top in spite of many hurdles and setbacks.
It was just over a year ago that the visually impaired singer began his meteoric rise to global superstardom with hit singles including Continent, Karma, Lover Not A Fighter, You & I, Nomad, and Goodness Of God. A few months later, Caribbean-American Assembly Member Alicia Hyndman invited him to be a special guest on Queens Day in Albany during a New York State Assembly session. In addition to pursuing his musical dreams, Nigy Boy obtained a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York in Long Island, where he majored in political science and history.
His hard work and good fortune earned him a booking for virtually every single weekend across the USA, Canada, UK and the Caribbean for 2024, including a top billing at Jamaica's prime summer festival, Reggae Sumfest. The fast-rising New York-based music prodigy is expected to be in Jamaica next in mid-February for Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run.
