January 27, 2025

Reggae Month 2025 is gearing up for a cultural extravaganza as the Jamaica Music Museum (JaMM) unveils its highly anticipated annual symposium, Grounation, under the theme "Bob Marley at Eighty: His Music, Legend, and Legacy." This year's event promises an electrifying journey into the life, philosophy, and enduring global impact of the legendary Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley.

Taking place each Sunday in February at the Institute of Jamaica's Lecture Hall, Grounation will offer an immersive exploration of Marley's music and message through the eyes of esteemed musicologists, historians, sociologists, and individuals deeply influenced by his revolutionary stance against oppression and discrimination.

Herbie Miller, director and curator of JaMM, emphasised the significance of this year's theme, noting that it has been over a decade since Grounation last delved into Marley's monumental contributions to culture, politics, and spirituality.

"It has been 13 years since Grounation last focused on Bob's singularity and importance to national, global, cultural, political, spiritual, and human experiences. This long-awaited attention to Marley's influence relies on contributions from several knowledgeable voices, including renowned musicologists, historians, sociologists, and other individuals who have focused attention and personal experiences with Marley," Miller said.
