Woman held at NMIA for ganja
Woman held with ganja at airport
A woman who attempted to smuggle ganja out of the island was remanded when she appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday.
Charged with possession of, dealing in, conspiracy to export and taking steps preparatory to export ganja is 22-year-old bartender Deandra Reid of Lyndhurst Road, Kingston 5. She pleaded guilty to all charges.
Allegations are that, on September 24, approximately 11:30 a.m., the accused checked in to board a Caribbean Airlines flight at the Norman Manley International Airport, en route to Barbados.
It is reported that Reid was stopped checked and interviewed by port-security personnel. Her luggage was also searched.

Due to inconsistencies in her answers while being interviewed, she was reportedly taken to a holding area where she was further questioned.
A search of her person was conducted and a parcel was found in the left cup of her brassiere. Another was found in the right cup.
It is said the accused afterwards willingly removed a parcel from her groin area and a cylindrical shaped parcel from her vaginal cavity. The parcels had a combined weight of roughly 2.5 pounds.
Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey remanded Reid until October 5 for sentencing.
