Computers donated to Mustard Seed Communities

Through its After School Advantage programme, IGT donated eight computers and one printer to a home which caters to pregnant teens. Mustard Seed Communities - Mary's Child and St Anthony's in Kingston provides support for vulnerable, pregnant teenagers.

The computers will assist the young mothers and mothers-to-be with their assignments and research for school-based assessments. The After School Advantage centre will help in preparing these young women for future employment.

"IGT is proud to continue to work with The Mustard Seed Communities in achieving their vision of creating a loving and caring environment to aid in the physical, mental and spiritual development of their residents. It is truly rewarding to see our combined efforts come to fruition with the opening of the Jerusalem Centre in September 2015 and now Mary's Child and St Anthony's." said Debbie Green, general manager of IGT Jamaica.

RESIDENT EMPOWERMENT

Mustard Seed Communities in Jamaica provides care for children with severe physical and mental disabilities and those affected by HIV/AIDs. Additionally, the non-profit organisation strives to introduce skills to the communities in which it operates to empower its residents.

According to Nadia Williams, administrator for Mary's Child/ St Anthony's: "The computers will enhance skills acquired by these teen mothers and provide increased independence in maintaining the welfare of themselves and their young ones going forward. Prior to IGT's donation, the girls took turns with two computers, and at times received assistance from the office."
