Woman beater odered to pay $35,000

A man who became enraged and battered a female for not embracing his sexual advances was on Monday ordered to pay $35,000, and might face additional penalties for his actions on his next court date.

Robert Kesley pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm, saying, "If she neva touch me first, I wouldn't touch her."

The complainant told the court that on March 2, while on her way to the shop, Kesley, who was sitting along the street, made sexual remarks to her, and repeated the remarks when she passed him on her way home.

"Him say 'a me fi a sex you!' but him use the 'F' word instead," the complainant said.

She said she responded to the accused man saying, "You can't sex me even if I was mad!" and this angered him, causing him to kick her in the stomach, punch her in the face and dislocate her shoulder. As a result of her injuries, she could not work for two weeks.

The complainant further noted that following the incident, Kesley began bragging about his actions. "He was boasting about what he did to me and said him shoulda have him gun fi rinse off inna me."

After taking all the complainant's medical bills and loss of income into consideration, the presiding judge, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, ordered Kesley to give the complainant $35,000 by March 29. He will be further sentenced on that day.

However, the accused boldly expressed his displeasure with the ruling. "I will give her [the money] as soon as I get it, but I don't think it should reach that much."

Judge Pusey's response was, "You don't seem to know where you are. You don't want to test me."
