Another murder during state of emergency

Two people have died in St James since the commencement of the state of emergency, bringing the overall murder toll in the parish to 12 since the start of the year.

The latest murder under the current state of emergency occurred Friday when a chef, 33-year-old Mavado Jackson of Tucker, Irwin, St James, was shot and killed.

The police say about 10 p.m., Jackson was among a group of patrons at a shop in his community, when he was approached by two men who spoke with him briefly before opening fire on him.

Jackson ran, but was chased by the two men, who shot him multiple times.

He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Before that incident, on January 21, Michael Bernard of a Quarry, Salt Spring address, was murdered at the funeral for reputed don, Oshane Duhaney.
