We all need somebody

July 02, 2020

Greetings! I am from Philadelphia, aka Philly. I've recently became an avid reader of THE STAR through my fellow Jamaican comrades. I love the support and unity throughout the pages of THE STAR. Jamaicans are such proud people. It is a beautiful thing! I've become an admirer of Jada Kingdom, Shauna Chyn, Spice and Curvy Diva.

I've been on this ghetto vacation (incarcerated), stranded on this celibate island for 12 years. I am 32 years old. I've seen many succumb to the many pitfalls in here. Many friends and relatives have abandoned me during my incarceration.

Out of sight, out of mind is a sad reality in here. It has made me stronger and more independent. I've tried to make the very best of this chapter in my life by keeping my mind open, positive and equipping myself with knowledge and knowledge of self.

My goals upon my release are to obtain my commercial driver's licence, drive trucks, and eventually open my own trucking company and tattoo shop.

I've learned that a goal without a plan is just a wish. So I am currently taking forklift classes and business education courses. I could accomplish so much if given the opportunity with the support of genuine and positive minds.

We all need somebody, because it's not about what you know but who you know as well. I sincerely appreciate THE STAR for giving people in my situation a voice to be heard on their platform. You are so appreciated. Bless your heart.
