Windies Women captain Stafanie Taylor plays a shot during the second Vitality Twenty20 International match against hosts England Women at the Incora County Ground in Derby yesterday.

West Indies Women captain Stafanie Taylor became the team's first player to score 3,000 runs in Twenty20 (T20) Internationals, but it didn't stop the side losing to hosts England for a second time by 47 runs in game two of their five-match series at the Incora County Ground in Derby yesterday.

Taylor was the Windies second-best scorer when she made 28, as the Windies, chasing 152 for victory, could only get to 104 for eight in 20 overs.

The Jamaican now has 3,020 runs at an average of 36 runs per innings. She is also the leading West Indies woman in One-Day Internationals with 4,724 runs at an average at over 44.

Once again, it was the hard-hitting opener Deandra Dottin who led the batting charge for the Windies, as she top-scored with a fighting 38 from 40 balls with four fours and a six.

For the second game running, no other batter managed to get into double figures as the well-oiled England attack, led by Sarah Glenn, Sophie Ecclestone and Mady Villiers, who picked up two wickets apiece, stifled the Windies response.

Earlier, Glenn, batting at number eight, played a late cameo as England recovered from 96 for six in the 14th over to post 151 for eight.

Glenn hit a top score of 26 from 19 balls, including four fours, as the Windies let England off the hook with some crucial dropped catches and failure by their senior seamers to close out the innings.

Wicketkeeper Amy Jones made 25 and opener Tammy Beaumont, 21, as Shakera Selman bagged two for 32, and Taylor two for 12.

For Taylor, it was another poor outing with the bat, having improved slightly on their bowling performance from the opening encounter.

"They came back well during our death bowling," she said. "We were on target for restricting them to 135. The batters didn't come to the party. They just need to improve in that area. We had our meetings. We discussed where we need to be between the seventh and 15th over. We seem to be lacking in that area."

The teams meet again in the third game, at the same venue, on Saturday at 7 a.m. Jamaica time.
