West Indies Women's captain Stafanie Taylor said that their rain-affected fifth and final Twenty20 (T20) match against England yesterday was one of the best matches she has ever played in despite the team losing by three wickets and ending the series 5-0.

Taylor's team put in a spirited performance in the rain-shortened five over a side match which saw the Windies batting first and posting 41 for three. England made a meal of the run chase but eventually got over the line with three balls to spare while losing seven wickets.

Deandra Dottin signed off the tour with 11 runs, including a six which brought her to 100 in her T20 career. She became the first woman to achieve the feat.

Jamaican Natasha McLean, who was getting her first game of the series, contributed an unbeaten 14 which included a big six off the last ball of the West Indies innings.

In the field, the Windies were also brilliant on the night as Player of the Match Shamelia Connell bagged three wickets for 14 runs off her two overs.

Reached a milestone

Connell, who took her tally to a joint series-leading seven wickets, also reached a milestone when she snared her 50th International wicket.

Despite bowing out on a losing note, captain Stafanie Taylor said the finale was a fitting contest to close out what was a tough series.

"I thought that today was really exciting," she said. "It's probably the first time I've actually played a five over game. I thought the energy was really good in the field. The fearlessness was really good too when we were batting. It was really positive and you could see that intent. It's a pity we didn't win."

The match wrapped up what was a challenging couple of weeks in England in a series that was hastily arranged by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

"We know that we were coming into England's backyard and it wouldn't be an easy tour," Taylor said. "We trained really hard and it's just one of those tours that just didn't go our way. We had a look at some young players, something that we talked about, trying to integrate the younger players as well."

Some members of the West Indies team will now turn their attention to the Women's Big Bash series in Australia which bowls off on October 25.
