$250,000 reward for missing teacher
It has been more than two months since the loved ones of St Ann teacher, Ruchelle Williams, laid eyes on her. The mathematics teacher at Marcus Garvey Technical High School disappeared without a trace on September 15. All efforts to locate her have proven futile thus far.
"I am not coping at all. I just want my daughter to come home," said Sheryl Williams, who has been having sleepless nights.
"Even if she comes home sick or with one foot, I will take care of her. It is getting to me now and whatever it is, I am begging God to let me know. Believe me, this is unlike Ruchelle, and it is really affecting the family now. We cannot eat or sleep, and her daughter is so worried," the mother added.
Williams, who is from Goshen district in St Ann, is of dark complexion, medium build and is about 5 feet 2 inches tall. Reports from the Brown's Town police are that about 4 p.m. on September 15, she was last seen at a plaza dressed in a blue blouse and black pants.
Searches were in vain
Several search parties have scoured sections of Golden Grove, the Lydford Housing Scheme, Claremont, Moneague, and other areas in St Ann where residents claimed to have seen someone resembling Williams. However, the searches were in vain.
The distraught mother said that she sometimes drives through sections in St Ann, hoping to see her daughter, but she is always left disappointed.
"Yuh see when I go out and look and don't see her, when I go back home, I always feel broken. Ruchelle loves mannish water and the other day I was cooking it and I just started talking to her although she wasn't there, and saying that look how she let me alone drinking it."
She told THE STAR that she is appreciative of the support that the family is receiving, while adding that she looks towards reuniting with her daughter for her birthday.
"It is not easy for me as a mother. We are searching and our loved ones are searching. Persons from all over the world have been reaching out and supporting us and I am really grateful. The police are doing their best. All we want is for Ruchelle to come home, whether dead or alive. Ruchelle will be 35 on December 2 and I hope she will be found by then," Williams said.
A $250,000 reward is being offered by the family to anyone with information leading to the whereabouts of the missing teacher.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Ruchelle Williams is asked to contact the Brown's Town police at 876-975-2233, 876-975-2625 the police 119 emergency number, or the nearest police station.
