Woman robbed after refusing to play cards
A man who admitted that he stole $16,000 from a woman who did not want to play a card game was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday.
Michael Downer pleaded guilty to simple larceny. The court heard that Downer grabbed the money from the complainant and ran away after she told him that she did not want to play a round of 'three cards' with him.
The complainant told the court that she was in a furniture store shopping, when she was approached by Downer who asked her to play the game. She told him that she was not interested but Downer proceeded to grab the money from her hand and ran from the store.
Senior Parish Judge Lori-Ann Cole-Montague ordered a social enquiry report and made Downer the subject of a fingerprint order. He is to be brought back to court on February 3, 2022 for sentencing.
