Producer’s drug case set for trial
July 28 has been set as the final mention date in the matter involving dancehall producer Atto Wallace, who is currently before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court for drug offences.
This after outstanding statements from an agency have reportedly been added to the case files, so the matters can now proceed to trial. The final mention date is for the settlement of legal representation for Wallace's co-accused, Dominique Brown and Ayesha Stewart, before a trial date is set. All three are charged with possession of, dealing in, attempting to export and conspiracy to export cocaine. When the matter was last mentioned before Chief Parish Judge Chester Crooks, prosecutors indicated that they faced a challenge in obtaining a statement from the Post and Telecommunications Department (Jamaica Post), where Wallace and his co-accused allegedly committed the act.
A subpoena was issued for Lincoln Allen, the post master general, who appeared before parish judge Maxine Dennis-McPherson yesterday, along with Cynthia Thompson-Clarke, the attorney representing the agency. Thompson-Clarke informed the court that statements from the agency were provided to the prosecutor.
"Our files indicate that all statements have been provided," Thompson-Clarke informed the court. The court heard that statements were attained from two drivers employed with Jamaica Post as well as a statement from the employees from the agency.
