One-legged man steals underpants

July 20, 2022

A one-legged man who pleaded guilty to malicious destruction of property and housebreaking on June 3, and who has been in custody awaiting sentencing, will spend additional time behind bars.

This as the social enquiry report requested by Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque was not ready when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court yesterday.

It was reported that on May 21, Dantel Blackwood, 19, pried open a grille and forced open a door, gaining access to the complainant's home. He was found in possession of 10 underpants and two shirts belonging to the complainant as well as $40,000 worth of $1, $5, $10 and $20 coins. Police reports indicate that when Blackwood was arrested and cautioned for the offences, he said "Offica, a foolishness me do and me sorry." He also confessed to breaking into the house, after being on the premises overnight. He was remanded in custody until September 16.
