Cops find homemade firearm in bag

Detectives assigned to the St Andrew North police arrested and charged a St Andrew man with possession of a prohibited weapon in relation to an incident that took place in Goulburn district, Lawrence Tavern, on February 23.

He is 19-year-old Rahein Allen of Goulburn district. Reports are that about 4:20 p.m., lawmen were on an operation in the area when Allen was seen. His actions aroused their suspicion. He was accosted and searched. A bag he was carrying was also searched. During the search, one homemade firearm with one 9mm round of ammunition was found in the bag. He was subsequently taken into custody. Following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney, he was arrested and charged on Saturday.
