Prime Minister Andrew Holness and several other CARICOM delegates are currently on a "special mission" to Haiti.

Holness, who left Jamaica this morning, is expected to lead discussions with several critical Haitian stakeholder groups.

The French-speaking nation has been at the forefront of a number of local and international debates as gangs continue to run rampant on the island.

Most recently, Canadian and American leadership discussed the possibility of sending in armed forces, with Canada pledging to deploy navy vessels.

Jamaican authorities have also hinted at their willingness to aid.

The Commissioner of Police, Major General Antony Anderson, has declared that the police are looking at possible ways to offer assistance to Haiti, but no confirmation has been made on if or when that will happen.

The Prime Minister is expected to return to the island later this evening.
