Cocaine found in ceiling of ex-con’s house
A convicted felon has found himself in legal woes again, after his house was searched and almost five ounces of cocaine along with more than $1 million in cash were found hidden in his ceiling.
The accused, Allan Jacobs, is charged on an indictment for possession of and dealing in cocaine before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court. It is alleged that on May 23, a special operation was carried out at the premises occupied by Jacobs. The search resulted in the seizure of a clear bag, with individual parcels of cocaine inside that weighed 4.57 ounces, and a bag found to contain cash totalling $1,058,300 and US $65 (approximately J$10,000).
When cautioned, Jacobs is alleged to have said, "A hussle me a hussle, a cocaine me sell."
But during a bail application on Wednesday, Jacobs' attorney submitted that her client denies the allegations and denies making the caution statement.
"What a creative officer they have at the JCF (Jamaica Constabulary Force) to come up with this statement," Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque said.
But what peeved the jurist was Jacobs' dishonesty about his previous convictions. He stated that he had none, but the investigator refuted his claims by indicating that Jacobs had previous convictions. It was then that the accused man decided to come clean and confessed that he was sentenced seven years ago for possession of cocaine and was sentenced to counselling with the Drug Treatment Court.
But even with his courtroom confession, the judge was not convinced and ordered that his antecedents be made available for the next occasion. Jacobs was remanded in custody until September 4.
