Late last month when the Global Music Awards took place virtually, singer Chyna Nicole's song Gratitude for Mama, featuring Dean Fraser, was recognised with a Silver Medal -- Outstanding Achievement.

This is the fourth Global Music Award for the New York-based reggae singer who is of Jamaican parentage.

"A Global Music Award is recognition that your work is revered by colleagues in the field of music and entertainment. The judges are diverse who have also been acknowledged from prestigious awards in the field. So it feels good to know that your work is judged based on the high quality and standards," said Chyna Nicole.

The Global Music Awards is a well-known international music competition which celebrates independent musicians and honours participants globally. Established in 2011, it has three layers of awardees, gold, silver and bronze medal winners.

Chyna Nicole previously won Global Music Awards for the all-female album Queens in the Arena (2019), the album Level of Concern (2020), and for the song Butterflies (2021).

Gratitude for Mama is featured on the 'Love You So Much' rhythm. She explained the inspiration behind the song.

"I thought to myself, in my catalogue of over 80 songs, not one of them is dedicated to my mom [who is] my inspiration and the woman who loves me unconditionally. I thought that it was time. It's a love song for mothers around the world and I hope that my fans will enjoy this special treat," said Chyna Nicole.

The artiste recently shared the stage with reggae artistes Etana and Queen Ifrica at the Kansas City Reggae and Jerk Festival.

"It was truly refreshing to be back on stage. The promoter, Dave Clarke, is doing a fine job making Kansas City a staple for reggae music for the past 30 years. The three-day festival felt like I was on vacation listening to sweet reggae music. The crowd was receptive, and they participated and danced during my set," said Chyna Nicole.

She added, "I made a lot of new fans in Kansas City. It was a good look and I am looking forward to being on more reggae shows that appreciate my body of work."
