Political activist intervenes in domestic dispute; man shot dead
The Elleston Road police have launched an investigation into the fatal shooting of a man by a political activist, who reportedly intervened during a domestic dispute on Tuesday.
The deceased has since been identified as Dwayne Williams, 41, of a Gillian Avenue, Kingston 2 address.
The incident occurred at a business establishment along Windward Road.
It is reported that about 6:35 p.m., Williams and his girlfriend had an argument which became physical. It is alleged that he pulled a ratchet knife and attempted to inflict wounds to the woman.
It was at this moment that the political activist, who was at the establishment, opened fire hitting Williams several times.
He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The STAR understands that the activist, who has since been questioned by the police, is a licensed firearm holder.
