Partying woman attacks neighbour’s house
A night of partying has left a Corporate Area woman in legal woes, as she will have to pay almost $50,000 in compensation for damaging appliances in a man's house and setting his bicycle on fire.
"Honest to God, I was leaving from a party at Mas Camp and I was kinda nice. Him (the complainant) always a tempt me, a tell me bad things. Him threaten me say him a guh burn down my house, and likkle bit after me house bun down. Me just did feel nice," explained the defendant, Tanish Anderson.
Anderson is charged on an indictment for malicious destruction of property following an incident on July 22.
It was shared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Thursday that the complainant was leaving his house, when Anderson approached him and said, "Me a guh bun down yuh house."
The complainant left the premises but shortly after, he received a phone call from his neighbour, informing him that she heard noises come from his house. He was also told that Anderson's voice was heard coming from the direction.
Upon his return to the premises, the complainant noted that two of his kitchen windows and a dish drainer were broken and his bicycle seat was set in fire.
When she was cautioned, Anderson allegedly said, "Offica, me nuh care."
The court heard that Anderson used a motor vehicle caliper to throw into the man's house, which caused $41,500 in damages.
Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque stated that in addition to the cost of replacing the items, the accused will have to absorb labour costs.
"I think $45,000 is sufficient, so are you prepared to pay the cost for feeling nice?" the senior jurist quizzed.
"Yes, Your Honour," Anderson said, agreeing to compensate the complainant.
Anderson, who was made the subject of a fingerprint order, is to return to court on October 5 to begin payment for the damage.
