Naked woman ‘terrorising’ neighbours
The police serving the Franklyn Town community in Kingston are having a difficulty with a female resident who repeatedly exposes herself during arguments with neighbours.
Vanessa Pryce, 22, and her friend Ashante Bowers are before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court for malicious destruction of property and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
"Your Honour, she [Pryce] is a problem to the community. She always has conflict with persons and when the police arrive, she strips naked and 'skin out' her body parts and we don't charge her for it," one investigator told Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque in a character reference.
The court heard that on August 19 at 6:40 p.m., the complainant was at home feeling unwell and was visited by a friend. It is reported that after the visitor left, Pryce went to the complainant and said, "Me nuh tell yuh fi stop harbour people inna di yard," which caused a verbal altercation. Pryce, the court heard, used a broom to hit the complainant and shortly thereafter, Bowers intervened and hit the complainant, who is epileptic. The complainant's iPhone was damaged during the melee. The judge was left perturbed upon hearing that Pryce was before the court in June, for similar charges but with a different complainant.
"She and nobody in the community caah gree," the police officer informed the judge.
"I think it is prudent that both of you pay for the phone. What I am hearing is troubling that this defendant was before me in June and that the community has an issue with you. You are not going home today. You are going to stay where you are. You have problems Madam," Judge Cole-Montaque said.
Pryce and Bowers were remanded until October 26. Both are to bring $30,000 to make restitution for the damaged cell phone and Pryce is to pay an additional $25,000 for the injuries the complainant sustained. A community report was also requested for Pryce.
