Woman among four arrested in latest Beryllium robbery
A woman was among four persons arrested in relation to Friday's daring attack on a Beryllium courier vehicle in Mandeville, Manchester.
This revelation was made yesterday by Fitz Bailey, deputy commissioner of police in charge of crime, at a press conference held at the Greater Portmore Police Station in St Catherine.
"We are conducting a high-level investigation and we have arrested four persons including a female. We have so far recovered $2.5 million and the investigation continues as we seek to bring [in] those responsible for that act, which I consider as something that is boiling on terrorism," he said. Bailey told the news team that two of the five persons injured in the attack are in serious condition.
He also said, "When you can, at that time of the day, without any form of provocation, fire your weapons carelessly and injure at least five people, two were seriously injured by that shooting. The JCF commit ourselves to ensure that this matter is properly investigated and all those persons who are responsible will be brought to justice. We are confident that it will be done," the senior cop said.
Video footage of the incident showed armed men unleashing a barrage of gunfire as they loaded the cash into an awaiting car, before escaping with an undetermined sum of cash.
