Clarendon man shot after allegedly stoning cops
The police in Clarendon shot and injured a man on Sunday after he allegedly threw stones at them during a fit of rage.
According to the police, they received reports of a man behaving boisterously along Brooks Avenue in May Pen and went to investigate.
The man was found behaving badly - declaring that he would hurt and/or kill somebody if he was not given vehicles he supposedly purchased.
The police intervened and told him to cease and desist from his behaviour.
It was at this moment that the man allegedly picked up stones and started to hurled them at the police party, injuring one its members in the process.
A motorcar was also damaged by stones.
The police reportedly took evasive action and the aggressor was shot in the right leg.
He was taken to the May Pen Hospital where he was admitted for treatment.
He is being arrested on suspicion of assaulting police, assault occasioning bodily harm and malicious destruction of property.
The Independent Commission of Investigations has since launched a probe in the matter.
