Two men sentenced for fight over dog's death
Two men from Gregory Park, St Catherine, who injured each other over the killing of a dog, were handed suspended sentences on Friday.
Antoine Rodway was tried and found guilty of unlawful wounding and given a two-year suspended sentence, while Rashid Bent pleaded guilty to the offence and got a one-year suspended sentence.
Senior Parish Court judge Desiree Alleyne in handing down sentence warned both accused to keep the peace.
The court heard that on October 13, 2023, Bent was attacked by Rodway after he allegedly used a knife to kill Rodway's dog.
A struggle developed during which both men injured each other with a knife. Bent reportedly received multiple stab wounds and was hospitalised for seven days.
An investigation was launched, which resulted in the arrest and charge of both men.
They were represented by attorneys-at-law Steven Jackson and Denise Walker.
